Presented by Wendy H. Outland / WHO KNOWS ART, former manager of Blue Spiral 1 gallery. With 26 years experience (art museum, state arts council and public art program), Outland specializes in helping artists price, market and sell their work, providing training and resources.
TOPIC: Overcoming Barriers to Optimal Performance. This segment explores some common areas of stress and dysfunction familiar to artists - plus some proven strategies to turn "distress" into a calm, mindful approach to working. Participants will share personal experiences, learn about the "ABC" model of stress management, and briefly practice selected hands-on techniques that have helped other artists.
Presented by artist/psychologist Jacquelyn Schechter, Ph.D., a clinical/health psychologist and meditator who began exhibiting and teaching photography in the early '90s. With training in photojournalism and documentary photography, her favorite subjects are people and culture. www.MindfulPhotography.com

From the west, take I-40 East to Exit 59. Turn left at end of ramp. Right at light onto Hwy 70 East. Left at next light (4-H sign at intersection), then immediate right onto Old Hwy 70 East. Go approx 1 mi, turn left onto Eastwood Drive. At end of Eastwood (1/2 mi), turn right onto Woodland Drive. Go 0.3 mi and turn right on gravel road at sign for Swannanoa 4-H Education Center. Go short distance, then bear right and go uphill toward Main Lodge. Turn right at first small driveway to Lodge; parking area just beyond the building.
From the east, take I-40 west to Exit 59. Turn right at end of ramp. Right at light onto Hwy 70 East. Then follow directions above.
